Quick answers to the questions parents ask most about our board, curriculum, fees, admissions and campus.
SGBS follows the ICSE (CISCE) curriculum for all grades, Nursery to Class 10.
SGBS offers Nursery, Junior KG, Senior KG and Classes 1 to 10. It is a private, co-educational, English-medium day school. The academic session runs April to March.
SGBS is located at Poonam Sagar Complex, Next to New Municipal Hospital, Mira Road (East), Mira Bhayandar, Thane, Maharashtra - 401107. The school serves families across Mira Road, Bhayandar, Kashimira and Dahisar.
SGBS operates from the campus earlier known as DeepJyoti School. In 2025, the school was taken over from the Deepak Foundation under new management and relaunched as Seth Govardhan Biyani School with the ICSE curriculum and a completely new learning model.
SGBS is a privately managed school governed by its Board of Trustees. You can read about the school's leadership on our About page.
Under the No Bag Model, children in Grades 1-4 do not carry school bags. Their material stays in personal lockers at school, assessment is exam-free through Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE), and urban farming is a mandatory part of the week. From Grade 5, formal exams begin alongside CCE and children start carrying bags.
Students of Grades 7-10 do not sit in one fixed classroom. They move between 8 dedicated subject labs: Maths, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer, STEM & Robotics, Lingual and Political Science, each fitted with AI smart boards.
Learning at SGBS is activity-based across all grades, inspired by the Reggio Emilia philosophy. Pre-primary children learn without textbooks through art, craft and hands-on activity; every pre-primary classroom opens directly to the outdoors, where the school's pottery unit and urban farm are located. From Grade 4, research-based project books teach children to research, write and create their own bibliographies.
Class size is capped at 30 students, with a teacher-student ratio of 1:30.

The third-floor auditorium has a stage, two podiums for student debates, a projector, high-end sound and a mirrored wall for dance practice. Outdoors, the campus has its own farmland and pottery unit, both part of the regular timetable. Grades 1-4 keep their material in personal lockers under the No Bag Model, Grade 1-6 classrooms have high-end projectors, and every pre-primary classroom opens directly to the outdoors (pottery unit & farmland).
